My recent sculpture.

14" x 20" in a black shadowbox-like frame.

There *IS* a spot to light the inside up under the helmet, but I havn't gotten lights yet.
I need to experiment with LEDs!

I have 5 more boxes like this, custom made, I can't wait to make more sculptures in 2015!

**Ideas behind MANIFEST: ** This came together slowly, initially starting with some ribs I had made, and a cast face in my studio. I put them together and the idea was born. The torso/rib helmet look a bit like a brain as well. When I see the helmet as ribs, the face is peeking out from the solar plexus - a place of strong emotion and spirit. If I see the helmet as an external brain, I think of the intelligence and creativity involved in the act of making art. I also see the rainbow colors as a metaphor for artistic creativity. Therefore, the title 'Manifest' came into being, referencing the ultimate act of creativity - to bring to life, to make, to APPEAR. The entire piece has become a reference to the idea of artist, in a sort of macabre, dark soul-spirit way.
